the Bible's Perspective

Jeremiah 29:11For I know the thoughts that I think towards you,” says the LORD, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.
James 1:13Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.
James 1:17Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation nor turning shadow.

the Quran's Perspective

Al-Baqara (The Cow) 2:26Lo! Allah disdaineth not to coin the similitude even of a gnat. Those who believe know that it is the truth from their Lord; but those who disbelieve say: What doth Allah wish (to teach) by such a similitude? He misleadeth many thereby, and He guideth many thereby; and He misleadeth thereby only miscreants;
An-Nisa (the Women) 4:78Wheresoever ye may be, death will overtake you, even though ye were in lofty towers. Yet if a happy thing befalleth them they say: This is from Allah; and if an evil thing befalleth them they say: This is of thy doing (O Muhammad). Say (unto them): All is from Allah. What is amiss with these people that they come not nigh to understand a happening?
Al-Ma'ida (the Table spread) 5:14And with those who say: "Lo! we are Christians," We made a covenant, but they forgot a part of that whereof they were admonished. Therefor We have stirred up enmity and hatred among them till the Day of Resurrection, when Allah will inform them of their handiwork.
Al-Anbiya' (The Prophets) 21:35Every soul must taste of death, and We try you with evil and with good, for ordeal. And unto Us ye will be returned.
As-Sajda (Prostration) 32:13And if We had so willed, We could have given every soul its guidance, but the word from Me concerning evildoers took effect: that I will fill hell with the jinn and mankind together.
Az-Zukhruf (Gold Ornaments) 43:36And he whose sight is dim to the remembrance of the Beneficent, We assign unto him a devil who becometh his comrade;

Notes

In the Bible there are places where God allows adversity or calamity (not moral evil) to befall man: Isaiah 45:7, Jeremiah 4:6 & Amos 3:6. But Satan is seen as the author of evil: John 8:44, 1 John 3:8.
