the Bible's Perspective
Exodus 22:1-4“If a man steals an ox or a sheep, and kills it or sells it, he shall pay five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep. If the thief is found breaking in, and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt of bloodshed for him. If the sun has risen on him, he is guilty of bloodshed. He shall make restitution. If he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft. If the stolen property is found in his hand alive, whether it is ox, donkey, or sheep, he shall pay double.
Proverbs 6:30-31Men don’t despise a thief if he steals to satisfy himself when he is hungry, but if he is found, he shall restore seven times. He shall give all the wealth of his house.
Luke 6:35-36But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back; and your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind towards the unthankful and evil. “Therefore be merciful, even as your Father is also merciful.
