This chapter (sura) of the Quran is thought to be written in the mid-Meccan period sometime between 618 and 620 and is made up of 45 verses or 'aya'. Current translation is Pickthall.
50:16We verily created man and We know what his soul whispereth to him, and We are nearer to him than his jugular vein.
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ وَنَعْلَمُ مَا تُوَسْوِسُ بِهِ نَفْسُهُ وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ حَبْلِ الْوَرِيدِ
