Quran 88, Al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming Event) ⓘ

88:1Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming?

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ

88:2On that day (many) faces will be downcast,

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ

88:3Toiling, weary,

عَامِلَةٌ نَاصِبَةٌ

88:4Scorched by burning fire,

تَصْلَى نَارًا حَامِيَةً

88:5Drinking from a boiling spring,

تُسْقَى مِنْ عَيْنٍ آنِيَةٍ

88:6No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit

لَيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ ضَرِيعٍ

88:7Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger.

لَا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنْ جُوعٍ

88:8In that day other faces will be calm,

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاعِمَةٌ

88:9Glad for their effort past,

لِسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ

88:10In a high Garden

فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ

88:11Where they hear no idle speech,

لَا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَاغِيَةً

88:12Wherein is a gushing spring,

فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ

88:13Wherein are couches raised

فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَرْفُوعَةٌ

88:14And goblets set at hand

وَأَكْوَابٌ مَوْضُوعَةٌ

88:15And cushions ranged

وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ

88:16And silken carpets spread.

وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ

88:17Will they not regard the camels, how they are created?

أَفَلَا يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَى الْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ

88:18And the heaven, how it is raised?

وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ

88:19And the hills, how they are set up?

وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ

88:20And the earth, how it is spread?

وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ

88:21Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer,

فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُذَكِّرٌ

88:22Thou art not at all a warder over them.

لَسْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُصَيْطِرٍ

88:23But whoso is averse and disbelieveth,

إِلَّا مَنْ تَوَلَّى وَكَفَرَ

88:24Allah will punish him with direst punishment.

فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الْأَكْبَرَ

88:25Lo! unto Us is their return

إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ

88:26And Ours their reckoning.

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ
