Sun and Moon

Among His signs are the sun and the moon.

16:12And He hath constrained the night and the day and the sun and the moon to be of service unto you, and the stars are made subservient by His command. Lo! herein indeed are portents for people who have sense.

41:37And of His portents are the night and the day and the sun and the moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or the moon; but prostrate to Allah Who created them, if it is in truth Him Whom ye worship.

Blessed is He who placed constellations in the sky, and set within it a radiant lamp and a glowing moon.

25:61Blessed be He Who hath placed in the heaven mansions of the stars, and hath placed therein a great lamp and a moon giving light!

71:16And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp?

78:13And have appointed a dazzling lamp,

He made the sun radiant and the moon a light, determining its phases so you may count the years and measure time. Allah did not create this except with truth. He explains His signs for those who understand.

10:5He it is Who appointed the sun a splendour and the moon a light, and measured for her stages, that ye might know the number of the years, and the reckoning. Allah created not (all) that save in truth. He detaileth the revelations for people who have knowledge.

He wraps the night around the day and the day around the night. He has subjected the sun and the moon, each running its course for an appointed time.

7:54Lo! your Lord is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days, then mounted He the Throne. He covereth the night with the day, which is in haste to follow it, and hath made the sun and the moon and the stars subservient by His command. His verily is all creation and commandment. Blessed be Allah, the Lord of the Worlds!

13:2Allah it is Who raised up the heavens without visible supports, then mounted the Throne, and compelled the sun and the moon to be of service, each runneth unto an appointed term; He ordereth the course; He detaileth the revelations, that haply ye may be certain of the meeting with your Lord.

14:33And maketh the sun and the moon, constant in their courses, to be of service unto you, and hath made of service unto you the night and the day.

16:12And He hath constrained the night and the day and the sun and the moon to be of service unto you, and the stars are made subservient by His command. Lo! herein indeed are portents for people who have sense.

35:13He maketh the night to pass into the day and He maketh the day to pass into the night. He hath subdued the sun and moon to service. Each runneth unto an appointed term. Such is Allah, your Lord; His is the Sovereignty; and those unto whom ye pray instead of Him own not so much as the white spot on a date-stone.

39:5He hath created the heavens and the earth with truth. He maketh night to succeed day, and He maketh day to succeed night, and He constraineth the sun and the moon to give service, each running on for an appointed term. Is not He the Mighty, the Forgiver?

And the sun runs its course to a fixed destination. That is the design of the Almighty.

36:38And the sun runneth on unto a resting-place for him. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Wise.

And the moon, We’ve set for it phases, until it returns like an old, curved date stalk.

36:39And for the moon We have appointed mansions till she return like an old shrivelled palm-leaf.

He is the One who created night and day, the sun and the moon, each floating in its orbit.

21:33And He it is Who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. They float, each in an orbit.

36:40It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit.

He causes the dawn to break and made the night for rest, and the sun and moon for calculation. This is the design of the Almighty.

6:96He is the Cleaver of the Daybreak, and He hath appointed the night for stillness, and the sun and the moon for reckoning. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Wise.

55:5The sun and the moon are made punctual.

Have you not seen how your Lord extends the shadow? If He willed, He could make it still. Then We make the sun its guide.

25:45Hast thou not seen how thy Lord hath spread the shade - And if He willed He could have made it still - then We have made the sun its pilot;

Then We gradually withdraw it.

25:46Then We withdraw it unto Us, a gradual withdrawal?
