Not Sent as a Sign

Nothing prevented people from believing when guidance came to them except their objection: “Has Allah sent a human as a messenger?”

17:94And naught prevented mankind from believing when the guidance came unto them save that they said: Hath Allah sent a mortal as (His) messenger?

And they say, “What kind of messenger is this, who eats food and walks in the marketplaces? If only an angel had been sent down with him to warn alongside him

25:7And they say: What aileth this messenger (of Allah) that he eateth food and walketh in the markets? Why is not an angel sent down unto him, to be a warner with him.

Those who do not expect to meet Us say, “If only angels were sent down to us, or we could see our Lord.” They have grown arrogant within themselves and have become excessively defiant.

25:21And those who look not for a meeting with Us say: Why are angels not sent down unto us and (Why) do we not see our Lord! Assuredly they think too highly of themselves and are scornful with great pride.

They ask, “Why wasn’t an angel sent down to him?” But had We sent an angel, their fate would have been sealed, leaving them no chance to repent.

6:8They say: Why hath not an angel been sent down unto him? If We sent down an angel, then the matter would be judged; no further time would be allowed them (for reflection).

11:12A likely thing, that thou wouldst forsake aught of that which hath been revealed unto thee, and that thy breast should be straitened for it, because they say: Why hath not a treasure been sent down for him, or an angel come with him? Thou art but a warner, and Allah is in charge of all things.

15:7Why bringest thou not angels unto us, if thou art of the truthful?

Say, “Had angels walked the earth, We would have sent an angel as a messenger.”

17:95Say: If there were in the earth angels walking secure, We had sent down for them from heaven an angel as messenger.

And if We had sent an angel, We would have made him appear as a man, further confusing them in their doubts.

6:9Had we appointed him (Our messenger) an angel, We assuredly had made him (as) a man (that he might speak to men); and (thus) obscured for them (the truth) they (now) obscure.

Even if We sent down angels, made the dead speak, and gathered all things before them, they would still not believe unless Allah willed. But most of them are ignorant.

6:111And though We should send down the angels unto them, and the dead should speak unto them, and We should gather against them all things in array, they would not believe unless Allah so willed. Howbeit, most of them are ignorant.

We do not send down angels except with truth, and when they descend, no respite is given.

15:8We send not down the angels save with the Fact, and in that case (the disbelievers) would not be tolerated.

Are they waiting for the angels to come, or for your Lord Himself, or for some of His signs? On the Day some of His signs appear, faith will not benefit those who did not believe before or who did not earn good through their faith. Say, “Wait, we too are waiting.”

6:158Wait they, indeed, for nothing less than that the angels should come unto them, or thy Lord should come, or there should come one of the portents from thy Lord? In the day when one of the portents from thy Lord cometh, its belief availeth naught a soul which theretofore believed not, nor in its belief earned good (by works). Say: Wait ye! Lo! We (too) are waiting.

On the Day they see the angels, there will be no glad tidings for the guilty, and they will cry, “A barrier between us!”

25:22On the day when they behold the angels, on that day there will be no good tidings for the guilty; and they will cry: A forbidding ban!

On the Day the sky is split apart with clouds and the angels are sent down in ranks

25:25A day when the heaven with the clouds will be rent asunder and the angels will be sent down, a grand descent.
