Refusing to bow to Adam

And when your Lord said to the angels, “I will create a human being from refined clay, shaped from darkened mud,”

15:28And (remember) when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am creating a mortal out of potter's clay of black mud altered,

“And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, then bow down before him.”

15:29So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him.

17:61And when We said unto the angels: Fall down prostrate before Adam and they fell prostrate all save Iblis, he said: Shall I fall prostrate before that which Thou hast created of clay?

And when We said to the angels, “Bow to Adam,”

17:61And when We said unto the angels: Fall down prostrate before Adam and they fell prostrate all save Iblis, he said: Shall I fall prostrate before that which Thou hast created of clay?

18:50And (remember) when We said unto the angels: Fall prostrate before Adam, and they fell prostrate, all save Iblis. He was of the jinn, so he rebelled against his Lord's command. Will ye choose him and his seed for your protecting friends instead of Me, when they are an enemy unto you? Calamitous is the exchange for evil-doers.

So, the angels all prostrated together

15:30So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together

17:61And when We said unto the angels: Fall down prostrate before Adam and they fell prostrate all save Iblis, he said: Shall I fall prostrate before that which Thou hast created of clay?

18:50And (remember) when We said unto the angels: Fall prostrate before Adam, and they fell prostrate, all save Iblis. He was of the jinn, so he rebelled against his Lord's command. Will ye choose him and his seed for your protecting friends instead of Me, when they are an enemy unto you? Calamitous is the exchange for evil-doers.

Except Iblees, he refused to be among those who bowed.

15:31Save Iblis. He refused to be among the prostrate.

Allah said, “O Iblees, what has kept you from joining those who prostrate?”

7:12He said: What hindered thee that thou didst not fall prostrate when I bade thee? (Iblis) said: I am better than him. Thou createdst me of fire while him Thou didst create of mud.

15:32He said: O Iblis! What aileth thee that thou art not among the prostrate?

17:61And when We said unto the angels: Fall down prostrate before Adam and they fell prostrate all save Iblis, he said: Shall I fall prostrate before that which Thou hast created of clay?

Allah said, “Descend from here! It is not for you to be arrogant within it. Leave, for you are among the disgraced.”

7:13He said: Then go down hence! It is not for thee to show pride here, so go forth! Lo! thou art of those degraded.

15:34He said: Then go thou forth from hence, for lo! thou art outcast.

“And upon you is the curse until the Day of Judgment.”

15:35And lo! the curse shall be upon thee till the Day of Judgment.

He said, “Grant me respite until the Day they are resurrected.”

7:14He said: Reprieve me till the day when they are raised (from the dead).

15:36He said: My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised.

Allah said, “You are among those given respite.”

7:15He said: Lo! thou art of those reprieved.

15:37He said: Then lo! thou art of those reprieved

“Until the appointed time.”

15:38Till the Day of appointed time.

He said, “Because You have led me astray, I will lie in wait for them on Your straight path.

7:16He said: Now, because Thou hast sent me astray, verily I shall lurk in ambush for them on Thy Right Path.

15:39He said: My Lord! Because Thou hast sent me astray, I verily shall adorn the path of error for them in the earth, and shall mislead them every one,

He said, “Do You see this one whom You have honoured above me? If You delay me until the Day of Resurrection, I will surely lead his descendants astray, except a few.”

17:62He said: Seest Thou this (creature) whom Thou hast honoured above me, if Thou give me grace until the Day of Resurrection I verily will seize his seed, save but a few.

Then I will approach them from the front, from behind, from their right, and from their left, and You will find most of them ungrateful.”

7:17Then I shall come upon them from before them and from behind them and from their right hands and from their left hands, and Thou wilt not find most of them beholden (unto Thee).

“Except Your devoted servants among them.”

15:40Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves.

Allah said, “This is the straight path leading to Me.”

15:41He said: This is a right course incumbent upon Me:

“You will have no authority over My servants, except those who willingly follow you in error.”

15:42Lo! as for My slaves, thou hast no power over any of them save such of the froward as follow thee,

Allah said, “Leave, despised and banished! Whoever follows you, I will fill Hell with you all.”

7:18He said: Go forth from hence, degraded, banished. As for such of them as follow thee, surely I will fill hell with all of you.

17:63He said: Go, and whosoever of them followeth thee - lo! hell will be your payment, ample payment.

He was of the jinn and defied his Lord’s command. Will you then take him and his descendants as allies instead of Me, though they are your enemies? What a miserable exchange for the wrongdoers!

I did not make them witnesses to the creation of the heavens and the earth, nor to their own creation, and I would never take the misguided as assistants.

18:51I made them not to witness the creation of the heavens and the earth, nor their own creation; nor choose I misleaders for (My) helpers.

“Entice them with your voice, rally your forces against them, share in their wealth and children, and make promises to them.” But Satan only deceives.

17:64And excite any of them whom thou canst with thy voice, and urge thy horse and foot against them, and be a partner in their wealth and children, and promise them. Satan promiseth them only to deceive.

“You will have no authority over My servants.

17:65Lo! My (faithful) bondmen - over them thou hast no power, and thy Lord sufficeth as (their) guardian.
