Gog and Magog

They said, “O Dhul-Qarnayn, Gog and Magog are spreading corruption in the land. Can we pay you to build a barrier between them and us?”

18:94They said: O Dhu'l-Qarneyn! Lo! Gog and Magog are spoiling the land. So may we pay thee tribute on condition that thou set a barrier between us and them?

He said, “What my Lord has given me is better, but help me with labour, and I will build a strong barrier.”

18:95He said: That wherein my Lord hath established me is better (than your tribute). Do but help me with strength (of men), I will set between you and them a bank.

“Bring me blocks of iron.” When he had filled the gap, he said, “Blow upon it.” When it became red-hot, he said, “Now pour molten copper over it.”

18:96Give me pieces of iron - till, when he had levelled up (the gap) between the cliffs, he said: Blow! - till, when he had made it a fire, he said: Bring me molten copper to pour thereon.

So, they could neither scale it nor tunnel through it.

18:97And (Gog and Magog) were not able to surmount, nor could they pierce (it).

And it is forbidden for a people We destroyed to return.

21:95And there is a ban upon any community which We have destroyed: that they shall not return.

Until Gog and Magog are unleashed, surging forth from every direction.

21:96Until, when Gog and Magog are let loose, and they hasten out of every mound,

He said, “This is a mercy from my Lord. But when my Lord’s promise comes, He will level it to dust. My Lord’s promise is always true.”

18:98He said: This is a mercy from my Lord; but when the promise of my Lord cometh to pass, He will lay it low, for the promise of my Lord is true.
