Lot

And Lot was indeed one of the messengers.

And We granted Lot wisdom and knowledge and saved him from the wicked people.

And Lot said to his people, “Do you commit such an indecent act, one that no people before you ever did?”

“You approach men instead of women in lust. You have truly gone beyond all bounds.”

When the messengers came to Lot’s household

He said, “You are strangers to me.”

When Our messengers came to Lot, he was distressed and felt powerless to protect them. He said, “This is a terrible day.”

And when Our messengers came to Lot, he was distressed and uneasy. They said, “Do not fear or grieve, we will save you and your family, except your wife, who is among the doomed.”

They said, “No, we bring you what they have been doubting.”

“We bring you truth, and we are truthful.”

The people of Lot denied the messengers.

But his people’s only response was, “Expel them from your town! They wish to remain pure.”

Their brother Lot said to them, “Will you not be mindful?

I am a faithful messenger to you.

So be mindful of Allah and obey me.

I ask no payment from you; my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds.

His people rushed toward him, already accustomed to wickedness. He said, “O my people, here are my daughters, they are purer for you. Fear Allah and do not disgrace me concerning my guests. Is there no righteous man among you?”

Lot said, “These are my guests, so do not disgrace me.”

“Fear Allah and do not shame me.”

They said, “Did we not forbid you from hosting strangers?”

They said, “You know we have no interest in your daughters, and you know what we desire.”

Lot said, “If only I had the strength to resist you, or could seek refuge in a strong support!”

They said, “Did we not forbid you from hosting strangers?”

They said, “If you do not stop, Lot, you will surely be expelled.”

He said, “I detest your actions.

You approach men instead of women, and you commit evil openly.” But their only response was, “Bring us Allah’s punishment, if you are truthful.”

My Lord, save me and my family from what they do.”

The angels said, “O Lot, we are messengers from your Lord, they cannot harm you. Leave with your family during the night, and let none of you look back, except your wife; she will face the same fate as them. Their appointed time is the morning, is the morning not near?”

They said, “Do not fear or grieve, we will save you and your family, except your wife, who is among the doomed.”

“We will bring down upon the people of this town a punishment from heaven for their corruption.”

And We conveyed to him Our decree, that the last remnants of those people would be wiped out by morning.

And he had warned them of Our punishment, but they doubted the warnings.

The people of the city came rejoicing.

By your life, they wandered blindly in their intoxication.

And they sought to seduce his guests, so We blinded their eyes, “Taste My punishment and warning!”

Then the blast overtook them at sunrise.

Then We destroyed the rest.

Except an old woman who remained behind.

When Our command came, We turned their city upside down and rained upon them stones of hardened clay, layer upon layer.

And We rained down upon them a storm, so see how the fate of the wicked unfolded.

So, We saved him and his family, except his wife, she was among those who stayed behind.

Except an old woman who remained behind.

You pass by their ruins, morning

And night, will you not reflect?

Surely in this is a sign, but most of them do not believe.
