Moses' Signs

We sent Moses with Our signs: “Lead your people out of darkness into light, and remind them of Allah’s days of favour.” In this are signs for those who are patient and grateful.

14:5We verily sent Moses with Our revelations, saying: Bring thy people forth from darkness unto light. And remind them of the days of Allah. Lo! therein are revelations for each steadfast, thankful (heart).

Pharaoh said, “If you have brought a sign, then present it, if you are truthful.”

7:106(Pharaoh) said: If thou comest with a token, then produce it, if thou art of those who speak the truth.

26:31(Pharaoh) said: Produce it then, if thou art of the truthful!

The believer said, "O my people, follow me, and I will guide you to the right way."

40:38And he who believed said: O my people! Follow me. I will show you the way of right conduct.

"O my people, this worldly life is fleeting, but the Hereafter is the lasting home."

40:39O my people! Lo! this life of the world is but a passing comfort, and lo! the Hereafter, that is the enduring home.

"Whoever does evil will be repaid with its equivalent, but whoever does good, whether male or female, and is faithful, will enter Paradise, where they will be provided for without limit."

40:40Whoso doeth an ill-deed, he will be repaid the like thereof, while whoso doeth right, whether male or female, and is a believer, (all) such will enter the Garden, where they will be nourished without stint.

"O my people, why do I call you to salvation while you call me to the Fire?"

40:41And, O my people! What aileth me that I call you unto deliverance when ye call me unto the Fire?

"You invite me to deny Allah and associate with Him what I have no knowledge of, while I call you to the Almighty."

40:42Ye call me to disbelieve in Allah and ascribe unto Him as partners that whereof I have no knowledge, while I call you unto the Mighty, the Forgiver.

"There is no doubt that what you call me to has no claim in this world or the Hereafter. Our return is to Allah, and the transgressors will be the people of the Fire."

40:43Assuredly that whereunto ye call me hath no claim in the world or in the Hereafter, and our return will be unto Allah, and the prodigals will be owners of the Fire.

"Soon you will remember what I say to you. I entrust my affairs to Allah; He is Watchful over His servants."

40:44And ye will remember what I say unto you. I confide my cause unto Allah. Lo! Allah is Seer of (His) slaves.

So, Moses threw down his staff, and suddenly it became a serpent, clear to all.

7:107Then he flung down his staff and lo! it was a serpent manifest;

26:32Then he flung down his staff and it became a serpent manifest,

Then he drew his hand out, and it shone white for the onlookers.

7:108And he drew forth his hand (from his bosom), and lo! it was white for the beholders.

26:33And he drew forth his hand and lo! it was white to the beholders.

The chiefs among Pharaoh’s people said, “This is surely a skilled magician.

7:109The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said: Lo! this is some knowing wizard,

10:76And when the Truth from Our presence came unto them, they said: Lo! this is mere magic.

17:101And verily We gave unto Moses nine tokens, clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty). Do but ask the Children of Israel how he came unto them, then Pharaoh said unto him: Lo! I deem thee one bewitched, O Moses.

26:34(Pharaoh) said unto the chiefs about him: Lo! this is verily a knowing wizard,

27:13But when Our tokens came unto them, plain to see, they said: This is mere magic,

28:36But when Moses came unto them with Our clear tokens, they said: This is naught but invented magic. We never heard of this among our fathers of old.

51:39But he withdrew (confiding) in his might, and said: A wizard or a madman.

He seeks to drive you out of your land, so what do you propose?”

7:110Who would expel you from your land. Now what do ye advise?

They said, “Shall we believe two men like us, while their people are our slaves?”

23:47And they said: Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves, and whose folk are servile unto us?

Moses said, “Do you call the truth sorcery when it has come to you? Is this sorcery? Sorcerers never succeed.”

10:77Moses said: Speak ye (so) of the Truth when it hath come unto you? Is this magic? Now magicians thrive not.

And We gave them signs in which there was a clear test.

44:33And We gave them portents wherein was a clear trial.

Moses replied, “You know well that none but the Lord of the heavens and the earth has sent these signs as evidence. I believe you are doomed.”

17:102He said: In truth thou knowest that none sent down these (portents) save the Lord of the heavens and the earth as proofs, and lo! (for my part) I deem thee lost, O Pharaoh.

He said, “Have you come to drive us out of our land with your magic, O Moses?”

20:57He said: Hast come to drive us out from our land by thy magic, O Moses?

We sent Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his chiefs, and he said, “I am a messenger of the Lord of the worlds.”

43:46And verily We sent Moses with Our revelations unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, and he said: I am a messenger of the Lord of the Worlds.

But when he came to them with Our signs, they ridiculed them.

43:47But when he brought them Our tokens, behold! they laughed at them.

79:20And he showed him the tremendous token.

79:21But he denied and disobeyed,

They said, “Have you come to turn us away from what we found our ancestors practicing, so that you may dominate the land? We will never believe in you.”

10:78They said: Hast thou come unto us to pervert us from that (faith) in which we found our fathers, and that you two may own the place of greatness in the land? We will not believe you two.

We have never heard of this from our ancestors.”

28:36But when Moses came unto them with Our clear tokens, they said: This is naught but invented magic. We never heard of this among our fathers of old.

And they rejected them, though their hearts were certain, out of arrogance and defiance. So see how the fate of the corrupt unfolded.

27:14And they denied them, though their souls acknowledged them, for spite and arrogance. Then see the nature of the consequence for the wrong-doers!
