The Exodus
We inspired Moses, “Travel by night with My servants and make for them a dry path through the sea. Do not fear pursuit, nor be afraid.”
20:77And verily We inspired Moses, saying: Take away My slaves by night and strike for them a dry path in the sea, fearing not to be overtaken, neither being afraid (of the sea).
26:52And We inspired Moses, saying: Take away My slaves by night, for ye will be pursued.
44:23Then (his Lord commanded): Take away My slaves by night. Lo! ye will be followed,
Pharaoh sent recruiters through the cities
26:53Then Pharaoh sent into the cities summoners,
Saying, “These are but a small band
26:54(Who said): Lo! these indeed are but a little troop,
And they have enraged us
26:55And lo! they are offenders against us.
But we are a mighty force, fully prepared.”
26:56And lo! we are a ready host.
So, We drove them out of gardens and springs
26:57Thus did We take them away from gardens and watersprings,
Treasures and noble dwellings.
26:58And treasures and a fair estate.
Thus, it was, and We made the Children of Israel inherit them.
26:59Thus (were those things taken from them) and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit them.
And they pursued them at sunrise.
26:60And they overtook them at sunrise.
When the two groups saw each other, the companions of Moses said, “We are overtaken!”
26:61And when the two hosts saw each other, those with Moses said: Lo! we are indeed caught.
He said, “No! My Lord is with me; He will guide me.”
26:62He said: Nay, verily! for lo! my Lord is with me. He will guide me.
Then he called upon his Lord: “These are a people steeped in sin.”
44:22And he cried unto his Lord, (saying): These are guilty folk.
So, We inspired Moses: “Strike the sea with your staff.” It parted, each side like a towering mountain.
26:63Then We inspired Moses, saying: Smite the sea with thy staff. And it parted, and each part was as a mountain vast.
And We drew the others in.
26:64Then brought We near the others to that place.
He and his troops acted arrogantly in the land, without justification, thinking they would never return to Us.
28:39And he and his hosts were haughty in the land without right, and deemed that they would never be brought back to Us.
We led the Children of Israel across the sea, but Pharaoh and his forces pursued them in tyranny and hostility. When drowning, Pharaoh cried, “I believe that there is no Allah but the One in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am among those who submit.”
2:50And when We brought you through the sea and rescued you, and drowned the folk of Pharaoh in your sight.
7:136Therefore We took retribution from them; therefore We drowned them in the sea: because they denied Our revelations and were heedless of them.
10:90And We brought the Children of Israel across the sea, and Pharaoh with his hosts pursued them in rebellion and transgression, till, when the (fate of) drowning overtook him, he exclaimed: I believe that there is no Allah save Him in Whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of those who surrender (unto Him).
17:103And he wished to scare them from the land, but We drowned him and those with him, all together.
20:78Then Pharaoh followed them with his hosts and there covered them that which did cover them of the sea.
25:36Then We said: Go together unto the folk who have denied Our revelations. Then We destroyed them, a complete destruction.
26:66And We drowned the others.
28:40Therefor We seized him and his hosts, and abandoned them unto the sea. Behold the nature of the consequence for evil-doers!
43:55So, when they angered Us, We punished them and drowned them every one.
44:24And leave the sea behind at rest, for lo! they are a drowned host.
51:40So We seized him and his hosts and flung them in the sea, for he was reprobate.
So Allah seized him with punishment, both in this life and the next.
79:25So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former.
“Now? When you had rebelled before and spread corruption?”
10:91What! Now! When hitherto thou hast rebelled and been of the wrong-doers?
“Today, We will preserve your body as a sign for those who come after you. Yet many people remain heedless of Our signs.”
10:92But this day We save thee in thy body that thou mayst be a portent for those after thee. Lo! most of mankind are heedless of Our portents.
26:67Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers.
43:56And We made them a thing past, and an example for those after (them).
And Qarun, Pharaoh, and Haman, Moses came to them with clear signs, but they acted arrogantly in the land. Yet they could not escape Us.
29:39And Korah, Pharaoh and Haman! Moses came unto them with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), but they were boastful in the land. And they were not winners (in the race).
How many gardens and springs they left behind
44:25How many were the gardens and the watersprings that they left behind,
And fields and noble dwellings
44:26And the cornlands and the goodly sites
And luxuries they once delighted in
44:27And pleasant things wherein they took delight!
So, it was. And We made another people inherit them.
44:28Even so (it was), and We made it an inheritance for other folk;
Neither the heavens nor the earth wept for them, nor were they reprieved.
44:29And the heaven and the earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved.
From Pharaoh, he was truly a tyrant, one who transgressed all bounds.
20:79And Pharaoh led his folk astray, he did not guide them.
44:31(We delivered them) from Pharaoh. Lo! he was a tyrant of the wanton ones.
We made them leaders calling to the Fire, and on the Day of Judgment, they will not be helped.
28:41And We made them patterns that invite unto the Fire, and on the Day of Resurrection they will not be helped.
And We delivered the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment
26:65And We saved Moses and those with him, every one;
37:115And saved them and their people from the great distress,
37:116And helped them so that they became the victors.
40:45So Allah warded off from him the evils which they plotted, while a dreadful doom encompassed Pharaoh's folk,
44:30And We delivered the Children of Israel from the shameful doom;
Indeed, in this is a lesson for those who stand in awe.
79:26Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth.
And We chose them knowingly above all peoples.
44:32And We chose them, purposely, above (all) creatures.
We led the Children of Israel across the sea, and they came upon a people devoted to their idols. They said, “O Moses, make us a Allah like theirs.” He said, “You are an ignorant people.
7:138And We brought the Children of Israel across the sea, and they came unto a people who were given up to idols which they had. They said: O Moses! Make for us a god even as they have gods. He said: Lo! ye are a folk who know not.
What they follow is doomed, and their deeds are in vain.”
7:139Lo! as for these, their way will be destroyed and all that they are doing is in vain.
He said, “Should I seek a Allah for you other than Allah, when He has favoured you above all nations?”
7:140He said: Shall I seek for you a god other than Allah when He hath favoured you above (all) creatures?
And when your Lord proclaimed: “If you are grateful, I will surely increase My blessings upon you. But if you are ungrateful, My punishment is severe.”
14:7And when your Lord proclaimed: If ye give thanks, I will give you more; but if ye are thankless, lo! My punishment is dire.
Moses said, “Even if you and everyone on earth were ungrateful, Allah is still free of need, worthy of all praise.”
14:8And Moses said: Though ye and all who are in the earth prove thankless, lo! Allah verily is Absolute, Owner of Praise.
