Warning
But the chiefs among his people, who disbelieved, said, “We see you as nothing but a human like us, and we see that only the lowest among us follow you without thinking. We see no superiority in you over us. In fact, we think you are lying.”
7:60The chieftains of his people said: Lo! we see thee surely in plain error.
11:27The chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved, said: We see thee but a mortal like us, and we see not that any follow thee save the most abject among us, without reflection. We behold in you no merit above us - nay, we deem you liars.
14:10Their messengers said: Can there be doubt concerning Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth? He calleth you that He may forgive you your sins and reprieve you unto an appointed term. They said: Ye are but mortals like us, who would fain turn us away from what our fathers used to worship. Then bring some clear warrant.
23:24But the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved, said: This is only a mortal like you who would make himself superior to you. Had Allah willed, He surely could have sent down angels. We heard not of this in the case of our fathers of old.
He replied: O my people, I am not in error, I am a messenger from the Lord of all worlds.
7:61He said: O my people! There is no error in me, but I am a messenger from the Lord of the Worlds.
26:115I am only a plain warner.
I convey to you the messages of my Lord and give you sincere advice. I know from Allah what you do not know.
7:62I convey unto you the messages of my Lord and give good counsel unto you, and know from Allah that which ye know not.
He said, “O my people, consider this: If I stand upon clear proof from my Lord and He has granted me mercy, but you are blind to it, should we force it upon you when you dislike it?”
11:28He said: O my people! Bethink you, if I rely on a clear proof from my Lord and there hath come unto me a mercy from His presence, and it hath been made obscure to you, can we compel you to accept it when ye are averse thereto?
If you turn away, I have not asked you for any reward; my reward is only from Allah. I have been commanded to submit to Him.”
10:72But if ye are averse I have asked of you no wage. My wage is the concern of Allah only, and I am commanded to be of those who surrender (unto Him).
11:29And O my people! I ask of you no wealth therefor. My reward is the concern only of Allah, and I am not going to thrust away those who believe - Lo! they have to meet their Lord! - but I see you a folk that are ignorant.
26:109And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds.
“O my people, who will protect me from Allah if I drive them away? Will you not reflect?”
11:30And, O my people! who would deliver me from Allah if I thrust them away? Will ye not then reflect?
“I do not claim to possess Allah’s treasures, nor do I know the unseen, nor do I say that I am an angel. Nor do I say that those you look down upon will not receive Allah’s mercy; Allah knows best what is within them. If I did, I would be among the wrongdoers.”
11:31I say not unto you: "I have the treasures of Allah" nor "I have knowledge of the Unseen," nor say I: "Lo! I am an angel!" Nor say I unto those whom your eyes scorn that Allah will not give them good - Allah knoweth best what is in their hearts - Lo! then indeed I should be of the wrong-doers.
Do you wonder that a reminder has come to you from your Lord through a man from among you, to warn you and that you may be mindful, and perhaps receive mercy?
7:63Marvel ye that there should come unto you a Reminder from your Lord by means of a man among you, that he may warn you, and that ye may keep from evil, and that haply ye may find mercy.
26:106When their brother Noah said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)?
71:3(Bidding you): Serve Allah and keep your duty unto Him and obey me,
But they denied him, so We saved him and those with him in the Ark, and We drowned those who rejected Our signs, they were indeed a blind people.
7:64But they denied him, so We saved him and those with him in the ship, and We drowned those who denied Our tokens. Lo! they were blind folk.
Their messengers replied, “We are indeed human like you, but Allah favours whomever He wills among His servants. We cannot bring proof except by His permission. In Him, let the faithful place their trust.”
14:11Their messengers said unto them: We are but mortals like you, but Allah giveth grace unto whom He will of His slaves. It is not ours to bring you a warrant unless by the permission of Allah. In Allah let believers put their trust!
“Why should we not trust in Allah when He has guided us? We will endure your persecution, and upon Allah, the reliant should rely.”
14:12How should we not put our trust in Allah when He hath shown us our ways? We surely will endure the hurt ye do us. In Allah let the trusting put their trust.
