Introduction to the concept of Hell

Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you?

When the inevitable event unfolds

On that Day, the Event will occur.

The sky will split open, for it will be fragile that Day.

Surely what you are promised will come to pass.

Indeed, your Lord’s punishment is bound to come.

The Inevitable Reality.

What is the Inevitable Reality?

And what can make you grasp what the Inevitable Reality is?

None can avert it.

And the angels will be on its edges, and eight will bear the Throne of your Lord above them.

Yet if you say, “You will be resurrected after death,” the disbelievers will say, “This is nothing but sorcery.”

Rivalry in worldly gain has distracted you

Until you visit the graves.

No! Soon you will know.

Again, no! Soon you will know.

If only you knew with certainty!

You will surely see the blazing fire.

Then you will see it with absolute certainty.

Then, on that Day, you will be questioned about your pleasures.

The Striking Calamity!

What is the Striking Calamity?

And what will make you understand the Striking Calamity?

On that Day, people will be like scattered moths

And the mountains will be like fluffed-up wool.

When the stars are extinguished

And the stars lose their brilliance

And the sky is torn apart

And the sky is stripped away

And listens to its Lord, as it must.

When the sun is wrapped up in darkness

And the seas boil over

And the seas burst forth

The earth trembles with a mighty quake

When the earth is shaken with its final tremor

And casts out its burdens

And when the earth is stretched wide

And casts out all within it, becoming empty.

And man cries, “What is happening to it?”

And the pregnant camels are abandoned

And the wild beasts are gathered together

And the Fire blazes fiercely

And Paradise is brought near

And the souls are paired

And the buried infant is asked

For what crime was she slain?

And the records are laid open

And the graves are overturned

Then every soul will know what it has brought forth.

On that Day, it will recount its news

For your Lord will have commanded it.

O human, you are striving toward your Lord. A journey you will inevitably complete.

Warn them of the Day when hearts will tremble in throats, choking them.

On the Day when the earth is replaced with another earth, and the heavens too, all will stand before Allah.

On the Day the sky sways with a dreadful shaking

On the Day We roll up the heavens like a scroll of writings as We began the first creation, We shall repeat it. That is a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We always fulfil.

And on the Day We gather from every nation a group of those who denied Our signs, they will be driven in ranks.

They will be presented before your Lord in rows: “You have come to Us as We created you the first time, though you claimed We would not set a time for this.”

On the Day when secrets are laid bare

On that Day, He will call them and say, “What answer did you give to the messengers?”

But all knowledge will be obscured from them that Day, and they will not ask one another.

On the Day He gathers them, it will seem as if they had stayed in the world only an hour, recognizing one another. Those who deny the meeting with Allah will be lost.

When humanity is gathered, they (false gods) will be enemies to them (those who invoked them) and will reject their worship.

"O my people, I fear for you the Day of Calling."

And listen, the Day the caller will call from a nearby place

On the Day when the sky will be like molten brass

No close friend will ask about a friend

On the Day they see it, it will seem as if they had stayed only an evening or a morning.

How clearly they will hear and see on the Day they come to Us! But today, they are in clear error.

And what will make you understand what the Day of Judgment is?

Again, what will make you grasp what the Day of Judgment is?

It is the Day when no soul can help another, for on that Day, all command belongs to Allah alone.

Who reject the Day of Judgment

No! But you deny the truth of judgment.

So, what makes you deny the Judgment?

None denies it except the sinful transgressor.

Have you seen the one who denies the Judgment?

That is the one who repels the orphan

And does not urge feeding the poor.

So, woe to those who pray

Yet are heedless of their prayers

Who only show off

And withhold even the simplest kindness.

Burning in it on the Day of Judgment

Does the human being think We will not reassemble his bones?

Yes indeed, we are able even to restore his very fingertips.

But the human wants to keep sinning ahead of him.

He asks, “When is the Day of Resurrection?”

When vision is dazed

And the moon is eclipsed

And the sun and moon are fused

On that Day, the human will cry, “Where can I escape?”

No! There is no refuge.

To your Lord, that Day, is the final return.

That Day, the human will be told what he sent ahead and what he left behind.

He will testify against himself.

Even if he offers excuses

This is a warning like the earlier warnings.

The approaching Hour draws near

None besides Allah can unveil it.

Do you then marvel at this message

And laugh, but do not weep

While you are heedless in your play?

On the Day the Hour arrives, people will be divided.

And on the Day the Hour is established, the falsifiers will be in utter loss.

On the Day the Hour arrives, the guilty will swear they stayed only a short while. Thus, were they deluded.

On the Day the Hour arrives, the guilty will despair.

They ask you about the Hour, “When will it come?”

People ask you about the Hour, say, “Its knowledge is with Allah alone.” You do not know, perhaps it is near.

The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has split.

The disbelievers say, “The Hour will never come.” Say: “By my Lord, it will surely come! the Knower of the unseen. Not even a speck escapes Him, in the heavens or the earth, nothing smaller or greater, but it is recorded in a clear Book.”

The arrogant will say, “Did we force you away from guidance after it came to you? No, you were guilty yourselves.”

They say, “When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?”

Say: “You have an appointed day that you cannot delay or hasten by even a moment.”

But what knowledge do you have of it?

To Him alone belongs knowledge of the Hour.

He alone knows the Hour, and to Him you will return.

Its final knowledge rests with your Lord.

The coming of the Hour is but a blink of an eye or even closer.

Allah begins creation, then repeats it. Then to Him you will be returned.

The Hour is coming, so bear with gracious patience.

On the Day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains will become a heap of shifting sand.

The mountains crumble

into scattered dust.

And the mountains are blown away

And the earth and mountains are lifted and crushed with one blow

When the earth is crushed completely

And the mountains drift like scattered dust

It humbles some and elevates others.

You will be divided into three groups

And the mountains like tufts of wool

And the mountains are set in motion

You see the mountains, thinking they are solid, but they will pass like clouds, the work of Allah, who perfects all things.

On the Day We set the mountains in motion and you see the earth laid bare, We will gather them, leaving none behind.

The mountains set in motion, becoming a mirage.

And on the Day the Trumpet is blown, all in the heavens and the earth will be struck with terror, except those whom Allah wills. And all will come before Him in humility.

The trumpet will be blown, and all in the heavens and the earth will fall unconscious, except whom Allah wills. Then it will be blown again, and they will rise, looking on.

Then, when the trumpet is blown with a single blast

On the Day when the earth trembles

And is followed by another tremor

The Day they will hear the blast in truth, that is the Day of Emergence.

The Day the trumpet is blown, and you come forth in crowds

And the trumpet will be blown. “This is the Day of Warning.”

To Him belongs all sovereignty when the Trumpet is sounded.

Allah, there is no god but Him, will surely gather you all on the Day of Judgment, about which there is no doubt. Who is more truthful than Allah?

They do not value Allah as He deserves. On the Day of Judgment, the earth will be in His grip, and the heavens will be folded in His right hand.

The Day the earth splits open from them, rushing forth, that is an easy gathering for Us.

The Day they will emerge from the graves in haste, as if racing toward a target

How can you deny Allah when He gave you life after you were nothing? He will cause you to die, then bring you back to life, and to Him you will return.

On the Day when Allah resurrects them all, they will swear to Him as they swore to you, thinking they are right. But they are truly liars.

So set your face toward the upright religion before an irreversible Day comes from Allah. On that Day, they will be divided.

On the Day He gathers them and what they worshipped besides Allah, He will say, “Did you mislead My servants, or did they stray on their own?”

Warn those who fear being gathered before their Lord.

Those who are dragged into Hell on their faces, these are in the worst position and furthest astray.

This is the Day of Decision. We have gathered you and the ancients.

So, if you have a plan, try it against Me.

On the Day when Allah’s enemies are gathered into the Fire, driven forward in ranks.

Say, “Yes, the first and the last people

Will be gathered on a known day.”

And fear Allah, to Him you will be gathered.

Say, “He is the One who scattered you across the earth, and to Him you will be gathered.”

Say to the disbelievers: ‘You will be defeated and gathered into Hell'.

Whether you die or are killed, you will all return to Allah.

and to Him you will be gathered.
