Hypocrites

When hardship touches a person, he calls upon his Lord, turning to Him. But when Allah grants him a favour, he forgets what he prayed for before and sets up rivals to Allah, leading others astray. Say, "Enjoy your disbelief for a little while, you will be among the people of the Fire."

39:8And when some hurt toucheth man, he crieth unto his Lord, turning unto Him (repentant). Then, when He granteth him a boon from Him he forgetteth that for which he cried unto Him before, and setteth up rivals to Allah that he may beguile (men) from his way. Say (O Muhammad, unto such an one): Take pleasure in thy disbelief a while. Lo! thou art of the owners of the Fire.

So that Allah may punish the hypocrites, men and women, and the idolaters, men and women, and turn in mercy to the believers, men and women.

33:73So Allah punisheth hypocritical men and hypocritical women, and idolatrous men and idolatrous women. But Allah pardoneth believing men and believing women, and Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful.

When he embraces her, she carries a light burden and moves about freely. But when it grows heavy, they call upon Allah, their Lord, saying, “If You grant us a good child, we will be grateful.”

7:189He it is Who did create you from a single soul, and therefrom did make his mate that he might take rest in her. And when he covered her she bore a light burden, and she passed (unnoticed) with it, but when it became heavy they cried unto Allah, their Lord, saying: If thou givest unto us aright we shall be of the thankful.

30:33And when harm toucheth men they cry unto their Lord, turning to Him in repentance; then, when they have tasted of His mercy, behold! some of them attribute partners to their Lord

But when He grants them a healthy child, they attribute partners to Him in what He has given them.

7:190But when He gave unto them aright, they ascribed unto Him partners in respect of that which He had given them. High is He Exalted above all that they associate (with Him).

When hardship strikes at sea, those you invoke vanish, except Him. But when He brings you safely to shore, you turn away. Man is ever ungrateful.

17:67And when harm toucheth you upon the sea, all unto whom ye cry (for succour) fail save Him (alone), but when He bringeth you safe to land, ye turn away, for man was ever thankless.

29:65And when they mount upon the ships they pray to Allah, making their faith pure for Him only, but when He bringeth them safe to land, behold! they ascribe partners (unto Him),

But when He removes your distress, some among you return to their idols

16:54And afterward, when He hath rid you of the misfortune, behold! a set of you attribute partners to their Lord,

30:33And when harm toucheth men they cry unto their Lord, turning to Him in repentance; then, when they have tasted of His mercy, behold! some of them attribute partners to their Lord

"Besides Allah?" They will reply, "They have abandoned us. In truth, we never worshiped anything." That is how Allah leads the disbelievers astray.

40:74Beside Allah? They say: They have failed us; but we used not to pray to anything before. Thus doth Allah send astray the disbelievers (in His guidance).

But their faith was of no benefit once they witnessed Our punishment. This has always been Allah’s way with His servants; the disbelievers were utterly lost.

40:85But their faith could not avail them when they saw Our doom. This is Allah's law which hath ever taken course for His bondmen. And then the disbelievers will be ruined.

When they saw Our punishment, they cried, "We believe in Allah alone and reject what we had been associating with Him!"

40:84Then, when they saw Our doom, they said: We believe in Allah only and reject (all) that we used to associate (with Him).

Among people is one who worships Allah on the edge: if good befalls him, he is content; but if trial strikes, he turns away, losing both this world and the next. That is the clearest loss.

22:11And among mankind is he who worshippeth Allah upon a narrow marge so that if good befalleth him he is content therewith, but if a trial befalleth him, he falleth away utterly. He loseth both the world and the Hereafter. That is the sheer loss.
