Gods Invoked

Is Allah not sufficient for His servant? Yet they threaten you with those besides Him.

39:36Will not Allah defend His slave? Yet they would frighten thee with those beside Him. He whom Allah sendeth astray, for him there is no guide.

Say: Have you considered what you call upon besides Allah? Show me what they have created of the earth. Or do they hold a share in the heavens? Bring me a scripture before this, or a trace of knowledge, if you are truthful.

46:4Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Have ye thought on all that ye invoke beside Allah? Show me what they have created of the earth. Or have they any portion in the heavens? Bring me a scripture before this (Scripture), or some vestige of knowledge (in support of what ye say), if ye are truthful.

Those they invoke besides Allah create nothing; rather, they themselves are created.

16:20Those unto whom they cry beside Allah created naught, but are themselves created.

If you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will say, "Allah." Say, "Then do you think those you call upon besides Him can remove harm from me if Allah wills it, or withhold mercy if He grants it?" Say, "Allah is enough for me. In Him, the faithful put their trust."

39:38And verily, if thou shouldst ask them: Who created the heavens and the earth? they will say: Allah. Say: Bethink you then of those ye worship beside Allah, if Allah willed some hurt for me, could they remove from me His hurt; or if He willed some mercy for me, could they restrain His mercy? Say: Allah is my all. In Him do (all) the trusting put their trust.

Say: “Call upon those you claim besides Allah. They do not possess even an atom’s weight in the heavens or the earth, nor do they share in them, nor does He have any helper among them.”

17:56Say: Cry unto those (saints and angels) whom ye assume (to be gods) beside Him, yet they have no power to rid you of misfortune nor to change.

34:22Say (O Muhammad): Call upon those whom ye set up beside Allah! They possess not an atom's weight either in the heavens or in the earth, nor have they any share in either, nor hath He an auxiliary among them.

43:86And those unto whom they cry instead of Him possess no power of intercession, saving him who beareth witness unto the Truth knowingly.

Those they invoke, themselves seek closeness to their Lord, hoping for His mercy and fearing His punishment. The punishment of your Lord is truly dreadful.

17:57Those unto whom they cry seek the way of approach to their Lord, which of them shall be the nearest; they hope for His mercy and they fear His doom. Lo! the doom of thy Lord is to be shunned.

Say: Shall we call upon others besides Allah, those who can neither benefit nor harm us, and turn back after guidance has reached us? Like one whom devils have led astray in the wilderness, confused, while his companions call him to the right path, saying, "Come to us!"

6:71Say: Shall we cry, instead of unto Allah, unto that which neither profiteth us nor hurteth us, and shall we turn back after Allah hath guided us, like one bewildered whom the devils have infatuated in the earth, who hath companions who invite him to the guidance (saying): Come unto us? Say: Lo! the guidance of Allah is Guidance, and we are ordered to surrender to the Lord of the Worlds,

He calls upon one whose harm is closer than his benefit. What a miserable patron, what a miserable companion.

22:13He calleth unto him whose harm is nearer than his benefit; verily an evil patron and verily an evil friend!

Whoever calls upon another god besides Allah, for which he has no proof, his reckoning is with his Lord. The disbelievers will never succeed.

23:117He who crieth unto any other god along with Allah hath no proof thereof. His reckoning is only with his Lord. Lo! disbelievers will not be successful.

So do not call upon any god besides Allah, or you will be among the punished.

26:213Therefor invoke not with Allah another god, lest thou be one of the doomed.

28:88And cry not unto any other god along with Allah. There is no Allah save Him. Everything will perish save His countenance. His is the command, and unto Him ye will be brought back.

They will have no intercessors among those they once associated with Allah, and they will reject their former partners.

30:13There will be none to intercede for them of those whom they made equal with Allah. And they will reject their partners (whom they ascribed unto Him).

Allah judges with justice, while those they invoke besides Him judge nothing.

40:20Allah judgeth with truth, while those to whom they cry instead of Him judge not at all. Lo! Allah, He is the Hearer, the Seer.

Have you seen the one who takes his desires as his god? Can you be his guardian?

25:43Hast thou seen him who chooseth for his god his own lust? Wouldst thou then be guardian over him?

Or do they have gods who can defend them? They cannot help themselves, nor can they be protected from Us.

21:43Or have they gods who can shield them from Us? They cannot help themselves nor can they be defended from Us.

We granted them enjoyment and their ancestors, but do they not see that We reduce the land from its borders? Will they still prevail?

21:44Nay, but We gave these and their fathers ease until life grew long for them. See they not how we aim to the land, reducing it of its outlying parts? Can they then be the victors?

Those they invoke besides Him have no power of intercession, except those who testify to the truth knowingly.

43:86And those unto whom they cry instead of Him possess no power of intercession, saving him who beareth witness unto the Truth knowingly.

His saying, “O my Lord, these are a people who do not believe.”

43:88And he saith: O my Lord! Lo! these are a folk who believe not.

What they once invoked will abandon them, and they will realize they have no escape.

41:48And those to whom they used to cry of old have failed them, and they perceive they have no place of refuge.

Likewise, their idols have made the killing of their children seem fair to them, leading to their ruin and confusion in their faith. Had Allah willed, they would not have done so. So, leave them and their fabrications.

6:137Thus have their (so-called) partners (of Allah) made the killing of their children to seem fair unto many of the idolaters, that they may ruin them and make their faith obscure for them. Had Allah willed (it otherwise), they had not done so. So leave them alone with their devices.
