Encouraged to Fight

O Prophet! Inspire the believers to fight. If twenty among you remain steadfast, they will overcome two hundred; and if one hundred remain steadfast, they will overcome a thousand of the disbelievers, for they are a people who do not understand.

8:65O Prophet! Exhort the believers to fight. If there be of you twenty steadfast they shall overcome two hundred, and if there be of you a hundred (steadfast) they shall overcome a thousand of those who disbelieve, because they (the disbelievers) are a folk without intelligence.

Now Allah has lightened your burden, knowing that there is weakness among you. If one hundred remain steadfast, they will overcome two hundred; and if one thousand remain steadfast, they will overcome two thousand, by Allah’s permission. Allah is with the steadfast.

8:66Now hath Allah lightened your burden, for He knoweth that there is weakness in you. So if there be of you a steadfast hundred they shall overcome two hundred, and if there be of you a thousand (steadfast) they shall overcome two thousand by permission of Allah. Allah is with the steadfast.

So do not falter or call for peace when you have the upper hand. God is with you and will never deprive you of your deeds.

47:35So do not falter and cry out for peace when ye (will be) the uppermost, and Allah is with you, and He will not grudge (the reward of) your actions.

Indeed, those who have embraced faith, migrated with purpose, and strove with heart and hand in the path of God, they are the ones who truly hope for God’s mercy.

2:218Lo! those who believe, and those who emigrate (to escape the persecution) and strive in the way of Allah, these have hope of Allah's mercy. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

Will you not fight a people who broke their oaths, plotted to expel the Messenger, and attacked you first? Do you fear them? Allah is more deserving of your fear, if you are believers.

9:13Will ye not fight a folk who broke their solemn pledges, and purposed to drive out the messenger and did attack you first? What! Fear ye them? Now Allah hath more right that ye should fear Him, if ye are believers

Fight them, Allah will punish them at your hands, disgrace them, grant you victory over them, and heal the hearts of a believing people.

9:14Fight them! Allah will chastise them at your hands, and He will lay them low and give you victory over them, and He will heal the breasts of folk who are believers.

He will remove the anger from their hearts. Allah accepts repentance from whomever He wills.

9:15And He will remove the anger of their hearts. Allah relenteth toward whom He will. Allah is Knower, Wise.

Do you think you will be left alone without Allah distinguishing those among you who strive and take none as allies except Allah, His Messenger, and the believers?

9:16Or deemed ye that ye would be left (in peace) when Allah yet knoweth not those of you who strive, choosing for familiar none save Allah and His messenger and the believers? Allah is Informed of what ye do.

March forth, whether light or heavy, and strive with your wealth and lives in Allah’s cause. That is better for you, if you only knew.

9:41Go forth, light-armed and heavy-armed, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the way of Allah! That is best for you if ye but knew.

Allah has purchased the lives and wealth of the believers in exchange for Paradise. They fight in His cause, slaying and being slain. This is a true promise in the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran. Who fulfils His promise better than Allah? So, rejoice in your transaction; this is the supreme triumph.

9:111Lo! Allah hath bought from the believers their lives and their wealth because the Garden will be theirs: they shall fight in the way of Allah and shall slay and be slain. It is a promise which is binding on Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. Who fulfilleth His covenant better than Allah? Rejoice then in your bargain that ye have made, for that is the supreme triumph.

So, fight in Allah’s cause, you are responsible only for yourself. Encourage the believers, and perhaps Allah will restrain the might of the disbelievers.

4:84So fight (O Muhammad) in the way of Allah Thou art not taxed (with the responsibility for anyone) except thyself - and urge on the believers. Peradventure Allah will restrain the might of those who disbelieve. Allah is stronger in might and stronger in inflicting punishment.

Among the believers are those who have remained true to their covenant with God; some have fulfilled their vow, while others await their time, never wavering.

33:23Of the believers are men who are true to that which they covenanted with Allah. Some of them have paid their vow by death (in battle), and some of them still are waiting; and they have not altered in the least;

That God may reward the truthful for their sincerity and punish the hypocrites if He wills, or turn to them in mercy.

33:24That Allah may reward the true men for their truth, and punish the hypocrites if He will, or relent toward them (if He will). Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

God repelled the disbelievers in their rage, leaving them empty-handed. God sufficed the believers in battle.

33:25And Allah repulsed the disbelievers in their wrath; they gained no good. Allah averted their attack from the believers. Allah is ever Strong, Mighty.

So, when you meet the disbelievers in battle, strike their necks. Then, once you have subdued them, bind them firmly. Afterward, release them graciously or for ransom, until the war lays down its burdens. Had God willed, He could have defeated them Himself, but He tests some of you through others. And those who are slain in God’s cause, He will never let their deeds go to waste.

47:4Now when ye meet in battle those who disbelieve, then it is smiting of the necks until, when ye have routed them, then making fast of bonds; and afterward either grace or ransom till the war lay down its burdens. That (is the ordinance). And if Allah willed He could have punished them (without you) but (thus it is ordained) that He may try some of you by means of others. And those who are slain in the way of Allah, He rendereth not their actions vain.

So do not falter or call for peace when you have the upper hand. God is with you and will never deprive you of your deeds.

47:35So do not falter and cry out for peace when ye (will be) the uppermost, and Allah is with you, and He will not grudge (the reward of) your actions.

Truly, God loves those who fight in His cause as one solid rank, like a wall forged of iron.

61:4Lo! Allah loveth them who battle for His cause in ranks, as if they were a solid structure.
