War Booty
They ask you about the spoils of war. Say, “The spoils belong to Allah and His Messenger. So be mindful of Allah, mend your relationships, and obey Allah and His Messenger, if you are truly believers.”
8:1They ask thee (O Muhammad) of the spoils of war. Say: The spoils of war belong to Allah and the messenger, so keep your duty to Allah, and adjust the matter of your difference, and obey Allah and His messenger, if ye are (true) believers.
And know that whatever spoils you gain, a fifth belongs to Allah, His Messenger, the needy, the orphans, the poor, and the traveller, if you truly believe in Allah and what We sent down to Our servant on the Day of Distinction, the day the two armies met.
8:41And know that whatever ye take as spoils of war, lo! a fifth thereof is for Allah, and for the messenger and for the kinsman (who hath need) and orphans and the needy and the wayfarer, if ye believe in Allah and that which We revealed unto Our slave on the Day of Discrimination, the day when the two armies met. And Allah is Able to do all things.
It is not for a prophet to take captives until he has fully subdued the land. You desire the gains of this world, but Allah desires the Hereafter.
8:67It is not for any prophet to have captives until he hath made slaughter in the land. Ye desire the lure of this world and Allah desireth (for you) the Hereafter, and Allah is Mighty, Wise.
Had it not been for a prior decree from Allah, a severe punishment would have befallen you for what you took.
8:68Had it not been for an ordinance of Allah which had gone before, an awful doom had come upon you on account of what ye took.
So, consume what you have gained, lawful and good.
8:69Now enjoy what ye have won, as lawful and good, and keep your duty to Allah. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
O Prophet! Say to the captives in your hands: “If Allah knows goodness in your hearts, He will grant you better than what was taken from you and forgive you.
8:70O Prophet! Say unto those captives who are in your hands: If Allah knoweth any good in your hearts He will give you better than that which hath been taken from you, and will forgive you. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
But if they intend to betray you, they have already betrayed Allah before, and He has given you power over them.
8:71And if they would betray thee, they betrayed Allah before, and He gave (thee) power over them. Allah is Knower, Wise.
Those who stayed behind will say, when you set out to collect the spoils, “Let us follow you.” They want to change God’s words. Say: You will not follow us, God has already said so. Then they will say, “You’re just jealous of us.” No, they understand little.
48:15Those who were left behind will say, when ye set forth to capture booty: Let us go with you. They fain would change the verdict of Allah. Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Ye shall not go with us. Thus hath Allah said beforehand. Then they will say: Ye are envious of us. Nay, but they understand not, save a little.
God was pleased with the believers when they pledged allegiance to you under the tree. He knew what was in their hearts, so He sent down tranquillity upon them and rewarded them with a near victory
48:18Allah was well pleased with the believers when they swore allegiance unto thee beneath the tree, and He knew what was in their hearts, and He sent down peace of reassurance on them, and hath rewarded them with a near victory;
And abundant spoils they will soon take.
48:19And much booty that they will capture. Allah is ever Mighty, Wise.
God has promised you many gains to come, and He has hastened this one for you, and withheld the hands of others from you, so that it may be a sign for the believers and that He may guide you on a straight path.
48:20Allah promiseth you much booty that ye will capture, and hath given you this in advance, and hath withheld men's hands from you, that it may be a token for the believers, and that He may guide you on a right path.
It is not for a prophet to betray trust. Whoever does so will carry the burden of their deceit on the Day of Judgment. Then every soul will be repaid in full for what it has earned, and none will be wronged.
3:161It is not for any prophet to embezzle. Whoso embezzleth will bring what he embezzled with him on the Day of Resurrection. Then every soul will be paid in full what it hath earned; and they will not be wronged.
