Muhammad and Prayer

Did We not expand your heart?

And lift the burden from you

That weighed heavily on your back?

And raise your name high?

Indeed, with hardship comes ease.

With hardship comes ease.

So, when you are free, strive onward

And turn to your Lord with devotion.

Read, in the name of your Lord who created.

Created man from a clinging form.

Read, for your Lord is most generous.

The One who taught by the pen.

Taught man what he never knew.

Say: “My Lord, if You should show me what they are promised

Then, my Lord, do not place me among the wrongdoing people.”

And We are fully capable of showing you what We have promised them.

Repel evil with what is better. We know well what they say.

And say: “My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the whispers of devils

And I seek refuge in You, my Lord, from their presence.”

Your Lord knows that you stand in prayer nearly two-thirds of the night, or half of it, or a third, as do some of those with you.

So be patient with what they say, and glorify your Lord with praise before sunrise and before sunset.

And glorify Him in the night and after prostration.

So be patient for your Lord’s command, for you are under Our watch. And glorify your Lord with praise when you rise

So be patient, for your patience is only through Allah. Do not grieve over them, nor be distressed by their schemes.

Be patient, for Allah does not let the reward of the righteous go to waste.
