And We decreed for the Children of Israel in the Scripture: “Twice you will spread corruption in the land and rise to great arrogance.”

17:4And We decreed for the Children of Israel in the Scripture: Ye verily will work corruption in the earth twice, and ye will become great tyrants.

When the first of these warnings came to pass, We sent against you servants of Ours, possessing great might, who ravaged your homes. It was a decree fulfilled.

17:5So when the time for the first of the two came, We roused against you slaves of Ours of great might who ravaged (your) country, and it was a threat performed.

Such are in worse plight and further astray from the plain road.
