Covenant

And recall when We took a covenant from you and the prophets, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus, son of Mary. We took from them a solemn covenant.

33:7And when We exacted a covenant from the prophets, and from thee (O Muhammad) and from Noah and Abraham and Moses and Jesus son of Mary. We took from them a solemn covenant;

We had already made a covenant with Adam, but he forgot, and We found no resolve in him.

20:115And verily We made a covenant of old with Adam, but he forgot, and We found no constancy in him.

O Children of Israel, We saved you from your enemy, made a covenant with you on the right side of the mountain, and sent down manna and quails for you.

20:80O Children of Israel! We delivered you from your enemy, and we made a covenant with you on the holy mountain's side, and sent down on you the manna and the quails,

And recall when We took your covenant and raised the mountain above you, saying, 'Hold firmly to what We have given you and remember its teachings, so that you may be mindful.'

2:63And (remember, O Children of Israel) when We made a covenant with you and caused the mount to tower above you, (saying): Hold fast that which We have given you, and remember that which is therein, that ye may ward off (evil).

And recall when We took your covenant and raised the mountain above you, saying, 'Hold firmly to what We have given you and listen.' But they said, 'We hear and disobey,' and their hearts were filled with love for the calf. Say, 'How evil is what your faith commands if it leads you to such defiance!'

2:93And when We made with you a covenant and caused the Mount to tower above you, (saying): Hold fast by that which We have given you, and hear (Our Word), they said: We hear and we rebel. And (worship of) the calf was made to sink into their hearts because of their rejection (of the covenant). Say (unto them): Evil is that which your belief enjoineth on you, if ye are believers.

And remember when We took a covenant from the Children of Israel: 'Do not worship anyone but Allah, be kind to parents, relatives, orphans, and the needy. Speak kindly to people, establish prayer, and give charity.' But you turned away, except for a few, and you were heedless.

2:83And (remember) when We made a covenant with the Children of Israel, (saying): Worship none save Allah (only), and be good to parents and to kindred and to orphans and the needy, and speak kindly to mankind; and establish worship and pay the poor-due. Then, after that, ye slid back, save a few of you, being averse.

We raised the mountain above them as a sign of their covenant, commanding them to enter the gate in humility and to honour the Sabbath. We took from them a solemn pledge.

4:154And We caused the Mount to tower above them at (the taking of) their covenant: and We bade them: Enter the gate, prostrate! and We bode them: Transgress not the Sabbath! and We took from them a firm covenant.

But they broke their covenant, rejected Allah’s signs, and killed the prophets unjustly, claiming, “Our hearts are sealed.” No, Allah has sealed them due to their disbelief, so only a few truly believe.

4:155Then because of their breaking of their covenant, and their disbelieving in the revelations of Allah, and their slaying of the prophets wrongfully, and their saying: Our hearts are hardened - Nay, but Allah set a seal upon them for their disbelief, so that they believe not save a few -

Those who trade Allah’s covenant and their oaths for a fleeting gain will have no share in the Hereafter. Allah will neither speak to them nor look at them on the Day of Judgment, nor will He purify them.

3:77Lo! those who purchase a small gain at the cost of Allah's covenant and their oaths, they have no portion in the Hereafter. Allah will neither speak to them nor look upon them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He make them grow. Theirs will be a painful doom.

Allah took a covenant from the Children of Israel, appointing twelve leaders among them. He said, “I am with you, if you establish prayer, give charity, believe in My messengers, support them, and lend to Allah a good loan, I will erase your sins and admit you into gardens beneath which rivers flow. But whoever turns away has strayed far.”

5:12Allah made a covenant of old with the Children of Israel and We raised among them twelve chieftains, and Allah said: Lo! I am with you. If ye establish worship and pay the poor-due, and believe in My messengers and support them, and lend unto Allah a kindly loan, surely I shall remit your sins, and surely I shall bring you into Gardens underneath which rivers flow. Whoso among you disbelieveth after this will go astray from a plain road.

Yet they broke their covenant, so We cursed them and hardened their hearts. They distort words from their places and neglect much of what they were commanded. You will always find treachery among them, except for a few. But pardon them and overlook, for Allah loves those who act with grace.

5:13And because of their breaking their covenant, We have cursed them and made hard their hearts. They change words from their context and forget a part of that whereof they were admonished. Thou wilt not cease to discover treachery from all save a few of them. But bear with them and pardon them. Lo! Allah loveth the kindly.

We took a covenant from those who said, “We are Christians,” but they too forgot much of what they were taught. So We stirred enmity and hatred among them until the Day of Resurrection. Allah will inform them of what they did.

5:14And with those who say: "Lo! we are Christians," We made a covenant, but they forgot a part of that whereof they were admonished. Therefor We have stirred up enmity and hatred among them till the Day of Resurrection, when Allah will inform them of their handiwork.

Then successors came after them who inherited the Scripture but chose the fleeting gains of this world, saying, “We will be forgiven.” Yet if similar gains came their way, they would seize them again. Was the covenant of the Scripture not that they should only speak the truth about Allah? They studied it well. But the Hereafter is better for those who are mindful, will you not understand?

7:169And a generation hath succeeded them who inherited the scriptures. They grasp the goods of this low life (as the price of evil-doing) and say: It will be forgiven us. And if there came to them (again) the offer of the like, they would accept it (and would sin again). Hath not the covenant of the Scripture been taken on their behalf that they should not speak aught concerning Allah save the truth? And they have studied that which is therein. And the abode of the Hereafter is better, for those who ward off (evil). Have ye then no sense?

Did I not make a covenant with you, O children of Adam, not to worship Satan? He is your sworn enemy

36:60Did I not charge you, O ye sons of Adam, that ye worship not the devil - Lo! he is your open foe! -
