Deaf, Dumb, and Blind

Say, “I warn you only by revelation.” But the deaf do not hear the call when warned.

21:45Say (O Muhammad, unto mankind): I warn you only by the Inspiration. But the deaf hear not the call when they are warned.

Can you make the deaf hear, or guide the blind and those lost in clear error?

43:40Canst thou (Muhammad) make the deaf to hear, or canst thou guide the blind or him who is in error manifest?

Even if We take you away, We will still take vengeance upon them.

43:41And if We take thee away, We surely shall take vengeance on them,

But for those who disbelieve, there is deafness in their ears, and it is obscured from them. They are called from a distant place.”

41:44And if We had appointed it a Lecture in a foreign tongue they would assuredly have said: If only its verses were expounded (so that we might understand)? What! A foreign tongue and an Arab? - Say unto them (O Muhammad): For those who believe it is a guidance and a healing; and as for those who disbelieve, there is a deafness in their ears, and it is blindness for them. Such are called to from afar.

Do not be like those who say, “We hear,” but do not truly listen.

8:21Be not as those who say, we hear, and they hear not.

Their punishment will be doubled, for they could neither hear nor see.

11:20Such will not escape in the earth, nor have they any protecting friends beside Allah. For them the torment will be double. They could not bear to hear, and they used not to see.

The worst of creatures in Allah’s sight are the deaf and dumb, those who do not use reason.

8:22Lo! the worst of beasts in Allah's sight are the deaf, the dumb, who have no sense.

Had Allah found any good in them, He would have made them hear. But even if He made them hear, they would still turn away in defiance.

8:23Had Allah known of any good in them He would have made them hear, but had He made them hear they would have turned away, averse.

Some among them listen to you, but can you make the deaf hear when they do not understand?

10:42And of them are some who listen unto thee. But canst thou make the deaf to hear even though they apprehend not?

Others look at you, but can you guide the blind when they refuse to see?

10:43And of them is he who looketh toward thee. But canst thou guide the blind even though they see not?

Your Lord will fully repay each person for their deeds; He is aware of all they do.

11:111And lo! unto each thy Lord will verily repay his works in full. Lo! He is Informed of what they do.

The example of these two groups is like the blind and deaf compared to those who see and hear. Are they equal? Will you not reflect?

11:24The similitude of the two parties is as the blind and the deaf and the seer and the hearer. Are they equal in similitude? Will ye not then be admonished?

Do those who commit evil think We will make them equal to those who believe and do good, equal in life and in death? How wrong is their judgment!

45:21Or do those who commit ill-deeds suppose that We shall make them as those who believe and do good works, the same in life and death? Bad is their judgment!

You cannot make the dead hear, nor can you make the deaf hear your call when they turn away.

30:52For verily thou (Muhammad) canst not make the dead to hear, nor canst thou make the deaf to hear the call when they have turned to flee.

Deaf, mute, and blind, they will never return to the truth.

2:18Deaf, dumb and blind; and they return not.
